THE SAILS OF HUMERUS
We have collected useful tips and answers to frequently asked questions to help you prepare for and enjoy your sailing holiday, whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor.
Our priority is to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and relaxing experience. But remember, you are choosing a holiday of adventure and freedom!
Is this the right vacation for you?
If you love the outdoors, simplicity and adventure, a sailing vacation will give you unique emotions. Get ready for an unforgettable experience where the sea will be your companion.
What should I expect from a sailing vacation?
What to expect:
Life on board: imagine days marked by the rhythm of the sea and the wind, awakened by a dip in crystal clear waters and evenings lit by starry skies. Life on board is simple and authentic, a return to the basics. A sailing vacation is an adventure for those who love nature, good company and freedom. It is an opportunity to really unplug and rejuvenate.
Spaces on board are cozy, but limited, so bringing a spirit of adaptation is essential. The sea is our captain, and the itinerary will adapt to its conditions, giving us new surprises every day.
Is it important to have sailing experience?
No prior experience is necessary; our professional skippers will guide you in total safety, taking care of every detail.
Our boats are designed to offer comfort and safety, but it is important to remember that they are still sailboats. Therefore, minimal agility is required to climb up and down ladders, dive into the water or use the ladder, and sometimes to disembark ashore. Balance is essential to board the dinghy.
This is an active vacation experience, ideal for those who are in good physical shape, love to move and possess a spirit of adaptation.
Is it important to know how to swim?
Imagine plying the waves, with the wind swelling your sails and the sun caressing your skin. A sailing vacation is a unique experience, an adventure that allows you to discover hidden coves and breathtaking views. And the good news is that you don't have to be an expert swimmer to fully enjoy it!
While sailing, relaxation is the watchword. You can admire the scenery, enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze, without having to worry about diving into the water. Our experienced crew will take care of you, ensuring your safety at all times.
When the boat drops anchor in a dreamy bay, you can finally dive into the crystal clear, refreshing waters. For more experienced swimmers, a dive from the boat will be a thrilling experience. For those who prefer safety, a convenient ladder and life jackets will be available.
Just as you don't worry about being able to fly when you book a flight, you don't have to be an accomplished swimmer to experience the magic of sailing. Whether you want to relax in the sun, explore hidden coves, or simply enjoy the company of friends and family, a sailing vacation is an unforgettable experience suitable for everyone.

We offer both options! You can join us alone, as a couple or group, with friends, with your family, or book the whole boat for an exclusive experience. The skipper will guide you in managing the galley and running the boat.
Can I bring children?
Children are welcome aboard our cruises! We believe that sharing a passion for sailing with little ones is an unforgettable experience. To ensure harmony on board, we encourage you to let us know if you have children when you make your reservation so we can better organize the cruise and inform other participants. For a carefree family vacation, you can also book the entire boat exclusively.
Can people with disabilities go sailing?
Accessible sailing for all: the thrill of the sea without barriers! Sailing is an extraordinary experience that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of ability. We firmly believe that the sea is a place of freedom and inclusion, and we are committed to making sailing accessible to all. People with disabilities, the blind and deaf are welcome aboard!
We offer sailing initiatives designed to allow everyone to fully enjoy the thrill of sailing. Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where every person can feel comfortable and have an unforgettable experience.
Your safety and comfort are paramount to us. We are committed to providing attentive and personalized care, ensuring that every moment on board is pleasant and safe. You are required to communicate this at the time of booking so that we can best manage the situation and respond to every need.
Is sailing with your pet possible?
We know your pet is part of the family! Pets are allowed on board with the approval of the skipper or owner. To ensure an unforgettable experience for all, we ask that you consider the option for exclusive charter of the entire vessel.
Book your sailing adventure without worries!
Our departures are always guaranteed, regardless of the number of participants. Your adventure at sea is confirmed!
To secure your place on board, we require a 50% deposit on the total amount of the cruise. The balance must be paid within 30 days of the embarkation date.
Booking your dream vacation is simple: contact us and tell us the cruise of your choice. You will immediately receive an email with your booking summary and all instructions for payment and final confirmation.
Important: your safety and the well-being of everyone on board is our priority. When booking and boarding, it is essential to report any health conditions, allergies, intolerances, disabilities or other special needs that could affect your experience or that of other participants.
The captain, a figure responsible for safety at sea, reserves the right to refuse boarding to persons deemed unfit to sail. In case of failure to report pre-existing conditions, no refund will be available if the captain decides to deny boarding.
Can I cancel my reservation?
Yes, you can cancel your reservation by sending a written notice. In case of cancellation by the guest, in order to obtain a refund, another person must replace the reservation. In this case, a 20% fee will be deducted from the total amount.
In case of cancellation by the owner for reasons beyond his or her control (major breakdown, delay due to bad weather conditions), the full amount paid will be refunded immediately.
Prepare for your sailing adventure!
To make the most of your weekly cruise, we recommend that you take the essentials with you:
Important: RIGID suitcases or bags are NOT allowed. Luggage must be soft (bag, backpack, sack).
Are sheets and blankets included?
Yes, we provide bedding and towels.
The crucial role of the Skipper: who is in charge on board?
On board a sailboat, the skipper plays the role of captain and figure of utmost responsibility. He is the guarantor of the safety of the boat and all those on board. His decision-making power is total with regard to the conduct of navigation and the safety of passengers. This means that the skipper has the final say on every decision regarding course, maneuvering, and any situation that may arise. To protect the safety and smooth sailing, the skipper reserves the right to:
It is essential to understand and respect the authority of the skipper during a sailing experience.
Who takes care of the kitchen on board?
Usually it is the skipper who takes care of the kitchen and galley. However, participation is welcome: setting the table becomes a spontaneous act, while the kitchen arrangement (the “corvée”) is shared by the whole crew. There will be those who help in the kitchen, those who prepare the appetizer, and those who set the table!
Our meals are prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, cooked with passion. Our cuisine emphasizes traditional Italian and seafood flavors. On request, a vegetarian menu is also available.
Important: Please report any allergies, food or medical intolerances both at the time of booking and at boarding.
Shower on board: water is precious!
In boating, fresh water is a limited resource. Our tanks, while capacious, require conscious use. During the day, take advantage of refreshing sea baths and the outdoor shower for quick rinses. Reserve a real shower, shorter than usual, for the evening. Small tricks make all the difference: use just one glass of water to brush your teeth and salt water to pre-wash dishes, then rinse them with a little fresh water. Together, let's preserve this vital resource for our adventure at sea!
Seasickness? No problem!
Your serenity is our priority. Therefore, we will spend the first night moored in the harbor, giving you time to gently familiarize yourself with the gentle roll of the boat.
If you are particularly sensitive, we suggest you prefer a light breakfast and avoid tea and coffee. While sailing, we will be moving through generally calm sea areas, with relaxing stops in sheltered, low-rolling bays.
For added peace of mind, effective remedies for seasickness are available in pharmacies. Remember, too, that actively participating in navigation by holding the helm or assisting with maneuvers can be a great way to counteract any feelings of discomfort.
What does a typical day on board look like?
Imagine waking up gently rocked by the waves in an enchanting bay. The morning begins with a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters, followed by a hearty and tasty breakfast. Then, the excitement of preparing the boat, hoisting the sails and letting the wind carry you (for up to 2 hours) to a new island and another dreamy bay.
Life on board is a perfect balance between relaxation and adventure. Enjoy the quiet, the sound of the sea, a good book caressed by the breeze, but also the company of new people, carefree chatter, music accompanying a sunset aperitif, and the pure excitement of sailing. A sailing vacation is synonymous with freedom, authentic contact with the sea and nature. We will sail in deep blue and clear seas, giving you unique views and sunsets that will take your breath away.
The magic begins early in the morning, when the world around is still asleep. This is the perfect time for a “good morning dip” that awakens the senses. While some enjoy the sun on the bow reading a book, others try their hand at fishing. And for those curious to learn, our skipper will be happy to share the secrets of sailing maneuvers, turning learning into pure fun. Those with a sweet tooth, on the other hand, can delight their palate with a tasty snack, perhaps accompanied by a good glass of wine.
A special atmosphere is created on board, made up of sea tales, shared life experiences, contagious laughter, sincere emotions and, why not, even culinary secrets revealed. Then, the anticipation focuses on him: the sunset. When the sun merges with the horizon, tinging the sky with fiery colors, everyone stops to admire this natural spectacle, enraptured by its beauty.
We often spend the night in quiet, protected rade. Dinner becomes a convivial moment, followed perhaps by a guitar playing under the stars or a playlist setting the right mood. We chat, sip coffee, and for those who love the night, there is nothing more magical than lying in your sleeping bag on the deck, admiring the sky and waiting for the first glow of dawn.
Nights on board: a unique experience?
We generally stay overnight in beautiful bays, well sheltered from the wind and sea, enjoying the tranquility of nature. During the week, we also plan a stop at one of the picturesque local marinas for a touch of social life and to replenish the boat with supplies such as water.
What is done in case of bad weather?
Even during a sailing vacation, bad weather can be a possibility. In that case, our priority is safety. We take shelter in a sheltered cove or safe harbor and quietly wait for the return of good weather to continue enjoying sailing.
Are there any extra charges?
The cost of the galley will be paid directly to the skipper on board. For extra expenses at the discretion of the guests (beverages: water, juices, soft drinks, wine, beer, spirits), a common fund will be established among the participants. The skipper and crew are exempt from these expenses, which will be borne entirely by the guests.
Is learning to navigate possible? Absolutely!
One of our main goals is to share the passion and art of sailing. On board, our experienced skipper will always be ready to answer all your curiosities about the boat and sailing techniques. By actively participating in maneuvering, you will learn while having fun and finally discover the meaning of expressions such as “to haul in the mainsail!”.
Wi-Fi and phone on board?
Of course! Wi-Fi is available on board, generally while you are sailing, allowing you to stay connected with your mobile devices.
Is smoking allowed on board?
Smoking is allowed on board, but only outside, above deck and by positioning yourself downwind. We ask for your cooperation in taking extra care to prevent ashes and butts from falling into the boat or sea. For safe handling of the residue, we suggest you use a do-it-yourself airtight ashtray, such as a plastic bottle with some water and a cap.
